Understanding Your Funding Opportunities
There are several grant routes that can help finance retrofit work:
- THE WARM HOMES PLAN (WHP)
- OPTIMISED RETROFIT (ORP)
- ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
- THE WARM HOMES: LOCAL GRANT
The Warm Homes Plan (WHP)
The Warm Homes Plan (WHP) is a UK government programme designed to boost household energy efficiency and reduce energy bills by upgrading heating systems and cutting carbon emissions. As part of the national drive to tackle fuel poverty and promote sustainable energy use, the scheme plays a key role in supporting the UK’s pathway to net-zero by 2050.
Through the WHP, eligible households can receive funding or grants for a range of improvements, including enhanced insulation, modern energy-efficient heating systems, and renewable technologies such as heat pumps and solar panels. The scheme is focused on supporting those most in need—low-income households, older residents, and people living in cold or inefficient homes who are more vulnerable to fuel poverty.
Optimised Retrofit (ORP)
The Optimised Retrofit Programme (ORP) is a major Welsh initiative focused on reducing carbon emissions from existing homes through a comprehensive whole-house retrofit strategy. Instead of relying on uniform solutions, ORP uses a data-led methodology—combining detailed assessment, modelling, and real-time monitoring—to determine the most effective measures for each property. This tailored approach ensures upgrades are sustainable, cost-efficient, and deliver long-lasting value for residents.
A core focus of the programme is improving social housing. ORP supports housing associations, local authorities, and landlords in enhancing the performance of their housing stock through improved insulation, upgraded heating systems, and the integration of renewable technologies. These improvements help to cut energy bills, alleviate fuel poverty, and create healthier, more comfortable homes for tenants.
Environmental Responsibility
At Eco Funding for Homes, we view environmental responsibility as a core driver of social value, not an added extra. Sustainability shapes every decision we make—from the materials we source to the way each project is delivered. By focusing on resource efficiency, reducing waste, and lowering our environmental impact, we help create stronger, more resilient communities while delivering meaningful value for our clients.
The Warm Homes: Local Grant
The Warm Homes: Local Grant is a UK government programme launching in 2025 to improve energy efficiency and deliver low-carbon heating solutions for low-income households in England. Delivered through local authorities, the scheme focuses on privately owned homes—both owner-occupied and privately rented—with EPC ratings from D to G.
Key aims of the grant include:
Reducing fuel poverty: By funding energy-efficient upgrades, the scheme helps lower energy bills and ease financial pressure on households most at risk.
Supporting national climate goals: Installing low-carbon heating and other energy-saving measures contributes directly to the UK’s target of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Compliance & Accreditations
At Eco Funding for Homes, we deliver a fully integrated, PAS 2035–compliant retrofit service that supports clients in meeting their net-zero ambitions with confidence. Our approach follows the PAS framework meticulously, ensuring every project is managed through a structured, risk-based process. This commitment to best practice guarantees that all retrofit activities align with the highest standards of quality, energy efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
